Articles by Chris Molnar

Chris Molnar is a writer, graphic designer and full-time Dad who always has to think of creative ways to keep his two rambunctious toddlers entertained. He graduated with a B.A. in English and Medieval History, which tells you how out of touch he is with the reality of the working world. (So, err, he earned a graphic design degree.)

After teaching English in Korea and a decade in a variety of corporate cubicles (one of them a converted closet), he now makes a living designing websites and writing online.

Party Central in New Orleans: The Saints in the Superbowl DURING Mardi Gras

Where would you like to be right now? Shoveling your car out of snow before hitting a slippery, crawling freeway to face a grey cubicle at work with painfully flickering and whining lights overhead? Oooooor, be in New Orleans, where they are celebrating The Super Bowl AND Mardi Gras? NoLa.com’s article about the convergence of ... Read More »

Top Ten Weird, Strange and Anti- Gifts for Valentine’s Day

Yesterday was my guy’s guide to Valentine’s Day, which was all sweet and sickly. Today is the stuff I wouldn’t dare buy for my wife (though she could read this for ideas, HINT HINT!) I scoured some of my favorite websites, and thought of some more unusual gifts for what is otherwise a day of ... Read More »

A Guy’s Guide to Valentine’s Day

Okay, romantic ideas are a dime a dozen, and all the Valentine’s Day gift ideas – chocolate, roses, monster trucks – are much overdone. J.D. Salinger, the First Emo Kid and a Twilight Party

I just heard that J.D. Salinger died today, at 91 of natural causes. Ever since I first read the book in the late 1980’s (and yeah, I was the typical mopey teenager), I’ve always been wondering if I would miss the news of his death, since, well, there never is any news about this reclusive ... Birthday Parties Served Every Day!

My daughter just loves birthdays, and she always asks if somebody else is having one. I’ve seen her serve pretend cake to her stuffed animals, and she has the full compliment of toy dishes, fruits, toast and other food for her kitchen, so I thought, “I wonder if somebody sells a cake toy?” A quick ... Time for a January Backyard BBQ!

That’s it, I’ve had enough of winter! Christmas is over, the bills are coming in, and the tree is gone. It’s all so chilly and depressing here – and where I live, winter isn’t even half way over. Luckily, every few years, there’s a week in January known as the “Pinapple Express,” where a warm ... Read More »
